Wireless sensors network (WSN) is a hot topic of current sensor technology since it solves the problems of using wires to build networks among traditional sensors. Furthermore, with the feature of low power consumption and low cost, WSN has been applicated more and more in military and civilian area. ZigBee was a new short distance wireless communication technology which focuses on low power consumption, low cost, low complexity and low data rate. It has been largely implemented in industrial control, home-automation and WSN.The WSN constructed by ZigBee was featured as its large network capacity, low cost and low power consumption, but the monitor system for WSN always works with a PC. When the network was placed in those places where the PC was not available, then it is difficult to get the data from the network so that the data displaying in that place can not be implemented. So, in this thesis the wireless sensor network based on ZigBee technology was introduced and a new design of sink node with LCD display also was described. This new system works by using an ARM-controlled LCD displaying module instead of a PC, and it becomes a new monitor system for the network so that the sensing data from each end node would be displayed on this portable device, which gives advantages for the network debugging and testing.This device consists of two parts: the basic ZigBee sink node and the ARM-Controlled LCD display module. The ZigBee sink node hardware platform was constructed by using a MCU named MC9S08GT60 and a RF transceiver MC13192, then, the software running on the platform was designed according to the Z-Stack. The ARM-Controlled displaying module has several parts of circuits as follows: power, expanded memory, touch panel input, Serial Communication Interface and LCM interface to LPC2220. Also, the software running on this LCD displaying system was designed and debugged. It contains the following parts: LPC2220 startup codes, Interrupt Service Program, memory bank parameter setting, diver for touch panel, coordinates transforming, LCD panel resetting and initiating, GUI and color space transforming for LCD. The ARM-Controlled TFT-LCD displaying sink node using the ZigBee wireless communication technology was designed and tested in this paper. The system featured as portable can work alone without PC and provides much more convenient for WSN developing and debugging. It also serves as a good platform to the WSN applications.
