This paper explores the standardization method of information coding in the process of the implementation of product data management (PDM) system in the small and medium-sized enterprise, studying the relationship between the engineering machinery product structure configuration management and information classification coding, researching how to make the successful product structure configuration management of engineering machinery by product drawing information classification and coding.Product Structure and configuration management is the core technology of product design data and process data management of complex engineering machinery. With hydraulic excavator as an example, the molding method of the standardization product family Structure configuration model based on the Principle-Function-Behavior-Structure (FPBS) is put forward. Analysis the relations between the product structure configuration model and production welding configuration model, product assembly configuration model which need to be structured in the process of actual production. The modeling process diagram of construction machinery product family structure configuration model is put forward, From design to production,There are three configuration model of construction machinery products, namely:the product structure configuration model, production welding configuration model, product assembly configuration model.The latter two is produced based on the former.Comparing the existing shortcomings of product drawings coding scheme in construction machinery industry, explore the scientific method steps of information coding, four principles and the key technical application problems.
