Frequency Hopping(FH) Communication is a primary method in modern military communication. It has advantages in anti-jamming, anti-interception, easiness for network construction and so on. Also it solves the "far-near" problem. However, in modern information battlefield, the interference on wireless communication, which is caused by the relatively complex electromagnetic environment constituted of electromagnetic element, can no longer be ignored. Hence it requires modern wireless communication systems to guarantee the effectiveness of communication systems, as well as to take account of the reliability. In order to improve the anti-jamming characteristics of FH communication devices, it is an essential approach to improve the hopping rate and to introduce FH self-adapting techniques for FH communication development, in the band-limited environment. Based on the research background that has high requirement in effectiveness and reliability of communication systems, as addressed above, we study and realize the ultra-high speed FH synchronization scheme in the ultra-high speed FH communication system in deep, as well as the ultra-high speed FH frequency synthesizer. Additionally, we mix it into the entire high speed FH communication system and satisfy the requirement of strict effectiveness and reliability for modern communication systems.The research of modern FH communication systems is developing from three aspects. One is to develop the frequency synthesizer with a higher speed. Another is to realize the FH synchronization scheme with a higher speed. The other is to integrate the adaptive FH into the FH communication system, improve the ability in electromagnetic environment monitoring, make the FH communication system intelligent to select transmitting frequencies, and improve the performance in anti-jamming. In the three aspects above, we emphasize on the research and implementation for the first two, especially for the research and FPGA implementation of ultra-fast FH synchronization schemes. In practical applications, we strive to modularize the synchronization scheme of ultra-fast FH, make it adaptive to the synchronization scheme of FH communication systems with a high speed in future, and realize the integral compatible performance of the ultra-fast FH synchronization schemes. In that way, it can reduce the work-load for developers and improve the developing efficiency.In this paper, we first introduce the theory of FH communication technology, and then make researches on FH synchronization, which is the core technique in FH communication systems. After the analysis of current synchronization schemes, we present "the fast-sending and the slow-scanning" FH synchronization scheme, and make a detailed introduction and design, including the division of sub-modules in FH synchronization and the transmitting format in FH communication. Then, we develop the important research of the frequency synthesizer, a peripheral core component in FH communication systems. And we compare the PLL and DSS in merits and drawbacks. In practical design, we employ PLL/DSS as the first choice of the frequency synthesizer in ultra-fast FH communication and introduce the controlling method of frequency synthesizer in detail. Finally, we verify the effectiveness of the research in this paper. The theoretical analysis and design are practiced, the timing sequence of each module is verified on FPGA chips, and the entire hardware of ultra-fast FH communication systems is implemented. The results show that the high-speed frequency hopping communication system in this paper has good performance and meets the requirements in this paper.
