Frequency synthesizers are essential and key parts in many modern electronic systems, which determine their performances. With the continuous technical advancements in many fields such as communication, digital TV, satellite and aerospace telemetry, the higher demands of frequency stability, spectral purity, and frequence range is proposed. The main developing trends of the frequency synthesizer are lower phase noise, lower spurious, wider frequency output range and faster hopping speed. This dissertation introduces the realization scheme and key technology of 2~18GHz ultra-wideband, low phase noise, low spurious microwave frequency synthesizer. It adopts PLL interpolated by DDS controlled by FPGA as the frequency synthesizer scheme to realize 2~18GHz output, which makes an excellent combination between the two technologies. By applying the YIG Tuned Oscillator (YTO) in this design, the ultra-wideband low phase noise, low spurious frequency signal output can be obtained. Finally, through debugging software and circuits repeatedly, the requests of the system are achieved mostly. Its specifications show that the system has realized within the range of 2~18GHz, the phase noise of its ouput is superior to -91.6dBc/Hz@10kHz below 12GHz and -87.76dBc/Hz@10kHz between 12~18GHz, spurious suppression is superior to 76dBc in wide and narrow spans, step is 1 kHz, so the feasibility has been verified.
