With the development of satellite communications network technology and the improving of link rate, the previous low speed interface can no longer meet the requirements of satellite communications. So the ideal way to meet the development of satellite communications in the design and implementation of satellite switches based on the FPGA is using high-speed interface. Besides, using high-speed interface is becoming a new trend and a hotspot of research. According to the research projects in our laboratory-"flexible and efficient switch” and "10G packet switching unit", this paper studies three FPGA high-speed serial interfaces which are based on Rocket IO module: Aurora, Rapid IO, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. And then it designs the high-speed switch interface with the above three protocols.Firstly, the common Rocket IO module which is used by the three protocols is presented, and its structure, function and data transmission process are also described in detail. Secondly, three high-speed interface protocols are introduced, including the features and implementations of each protocol. Thirdly, this paper has completed the implementation of three high-speed interfaces circuits with Verilog HDL and timing stimulation by software. Finally, board-level verification of three high-speed interface protocols in ML507 Evaluation Kit and VC709 Connectivity Kit is mentioned, which demonstrate the correctness and the rationality of the design.
