With the further development of campus network technology, there are more and more problems to be solved in broadband access to the Internet, it is necessary to strengthen the management of campus network. In addition to the continues improvement of information technology, campus network users have centralized Internet access time, diverse network requirements, complex network behavior, so the demand is higher and higher to the accuracy, security, availability, stability and real-time requirements of the campus network authentication and accounting system. The new campus network authentication and accounting system has become a topic that we must study.This paper elaborates the design and implementation of campus network authentication and accounting system based on RADIUS. It analyzes the existing Tianjin University campus network architecture and authe ntication and accounting system. By combining its major technical principles, it is proposed that the three-tier network architecture campus network change to a large two-tier flat network architecture to improve the design of distributed campus network authentication and accounting system. It uses PPPo E to access a wired network, and DHCP+Portal to access the wireless network. Through the study of the authentication, authorization and accounting in the authentication and accounting system, it makes an improved system design. Finally, it improves authentication module and accounting module of DADIUS server software based on Free Radius open source code. Combining the above analysis, it shows the detailed design and implementation of campus network authentication and accounting system.Improved campus network authe ntication and accounting system optimized both the network architecture and authentication and accounting method, this system can enhance the availability, stability and scalability of campus network authentication and accounting to a large extent.
