The culture of zither is a brilliant pearl of Chinese national art,which lasted for more than two thousand years.With ‘the 12 th five-year plan' and ‘the 13 th five-year plan' had been proposed,China has put forward a new platform about development of culture.Now,this Chinese traditional instrument is facing a new opportunity.To promote Chinese culture to the world,it cannot only by publicity and promotion,but also by education,and the last is the most important.It now seems that in compulsory education,as a significant resource of music classes,extracurricular art activities plays a more and more important role.According to the relevant content of the 2011 edition of the Music Curriculum Standards issued by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China(MOE),the important part of music teaching should not only cover the art and culture knowledge in daily classroom,but also include the extracurricular music community as its representative part.In recent years,there are quite a few Chengdu primary schools opened zither communities.By making purposeful,targeted school year or term teaching programs,schools give students chance to fully feel and learn the charm of this ancient instrument.There are quite a few primary schools established zither clubs in Chengdu.By experiencing and learning this traditional instrument,children can appreciate the charm of the Chinese culture and inherit the excellent part of it.The author selected Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School(Tianfu Campus)as her practice base to collect study materials for this thesis.The thesis is divided into five parts.The introduction introduces the reason and meaning of the topic,and the construction of the thesis,also discusses the domestic and foreign status of zither teaching.In the first chapter,the author takes the example of the status and role ofextracurricular music activities in primary schools,with the method of consulting related literature materials and field study,illustrates the situation of Chengdu primary schools carrying out extracurricular music activities,especially opening zither clubs.The second chapter finds problems through the analysis in the first chapter.The third chapter puts forward countermeasures,and providing music educators some new teaching ideas and strategies.The last chapter is a summary.
