Objective:Based on the method of fortifying the spleen, harmonizing the stomach and dredging meridians, observe its effect on the occurrence of hand-foot syndrome induced by oral capecitabine in patients with advanced colorectal cancer by randomized controlled clinical trial.Method:A total of 60 patients with advanced colorectal cancer were enrolled in the Inpatient Department and Outpatient Department of Oncology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang Traditional Chinese Medicine University.According to the random number table the patients were divided into prevention group(n = 30)and control group(n = 30).Two groups of patients were both given capecitabine 2500mg/(m2·d),daily morning and evening 30 minutes after meals orally, for 14 days, and then their chemotherapy was withdrawn within the following 7 days, thus a chemotherapy course was 21 days in total. The control group was given vitamin B6 400mg/d for 21 days;the prevention group was given the traditional Chinese medicine decoction(the therapeutic method was fortifying the spleen, harmonizing the stomach and dredging meridians)for 21 days. The clinical trial contained four courses in total. The incidence of hand-foot syndrome, serum tumor markers, liver function and kidney function markers were observed and recorded before and after the four courses.SPSS 22.0 system software was used for statistical analysis to evaluate the effects on the prevention and treatment of hand-foot syndrome via fortifying the spleen, harmonizing the stomach and dredging meridians.Results:60 patients were enrolled and 4 cases were excluded, thus there are 56 patients for statistics analyses,28 cases for each group.Analyzed through the SPSS 22.0,the results indicates that:(1)There's no significant difference in the common clinical data of both groups statistically(P>0.05),and the common clinical data of both groups are comparable.(2)After treatment, the incidence of hand-foot syndrome of the prevention group is 28.57%,while that of the control group is 42.86%,and there's no significant difference in the incidence of hand-foot syndrome between the two groups(P>0.05).However,the prevention group excels the control group significantly, deferring the date when the hand-foot syndrome occurs, and lowering the rating of hand-foot syndrome(P<0.05).(3)After treatment, the serum levels of the carcinoma markers CEA and CA199 have decreased in both groups significantly in comparison with those before treatment(P<0.05).However,the serum levels of CEA and CA199 after treatment show no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)The incidence of hand-foot syndrome induced by oral administration of capecitabine can be reduced by the method of fortifying the spleen, harmonizing the stomach and dredging meridians;(2)Compared with the large-dose administration of vitamin B6,it can also defer the date when the hand-foot syndrome occurs and lower the rating of hand-foot syndrome;(3)Combined with the chemotherapy of capecitabine, the serum level of the carcinoma markers CEA and CA199 in the patients with advanced colorectal cancer can be lowered by the means of fortifying the spleen, harmonizing the stomach and dredging meridians.
