Objective: Based on the research of 14 private hospitals,this study is aimed to investigate the job satisfaction of medical staff in these private hospitals in order to gain a better understanding of the degree of job satisfaction,and further explore the potential influencing factors,thereby providing corresponding suggestions.Methods: Questionnaire method was adopted to conduct satisfaction questionnaire survey of 396 medical staff from 14 private hospitals.EpiData3.1,Excel and SPSS19.0 were used for data entry and analysis.Main statistical analysis in this study include independent sample t test,variance analysis,correlation analysis and multiple regression.Results: The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were relatively high,and therefore the results are reliable.A total of 396 questionnaires were collected.Of those,154(38.89%)were doctors and 242(61.11%)were nurses.People under the age of 34 or above 55 and accounted for the majority.The medical staff from the 14 private hospitals was mainly with a junior college degree,while few people have graduate degree.The average educational level was relatively low.Most of the medical staff had primary titles have,while few people had senior titles.Most of the medical staff have work in the hospital for 1~5 years,some of them had been worked for 10 years or higher.Acquaintance recommendation is an important way of recruitment.The number of people who were introduced by their acquaintances to work was merely lower than that of who were recruited by general recruitment methods.Likert five grade method was used and different degrees of satisfaction from low to high were assigned from 1~5 points.The result shows that the score of overall job satisfaction was(3.76 ± 0.88),the proportion of satisfaction was 58.08%.Medical staff in the town area were tend to have a higher satisfaction score than people out of the town.The medical staff's job satisfaction of the only transformed private hospital(LY Hospital)was higher than other private hospitals in the urban area.All dimensions' satisfaction from high to low were: interpersonal relationship,hospital management,training and development,payment and welfare,fairness.In terms of influencing factors,age and employment way had an influence on the job satisfaction.Each dimension and the total satisfaction as well as the various dimensions have significantly positive correlation(P < 0.01).The score of satisfaction of these dimensions from high to low were: training and development,hospital management,compensation and benefits,fairness,and interpersonal relationship.Among these nine factors,the leading power holds the largest number of people with 'satisfied' attitude;the second is interpersonal relationship;the third is hospital culture;the forth is daily management,and the least is fairness,welfare,and payment.The fairness holds the largest number of people with 'not satisfied' attitude;the second is payment,welfare,development,and the least is interpersonal relationship.The fairness holds the largest number of people with 'neutral' attitude,the second is welfare,and the least is leading power.Conclusion: The overall job satisfaction of medical staff in 14 private hospitals was in the moderate to upper level,and the job satisfaction was relatively high.Medical staff in the town area had a higher satisfaction score than people out of the town.The satisfaction of LY Hospital made a great contribution to the high satisfaction of urban area.Age and employment way had an impact on the overall job satisfaction of medical staff.The young and the old had a lower satisfaction score.Each dimension and that with the overall satisfaction are positively correlated.Motivator factors include payment and welfare,training and development,and Fairness.These factors have strong power in motivating,and they should to be introduced to improve the job satisfaction of medical staff.
