Clinical Study On Pattern-differentiation Based Acupoint Application Therapy For Chronicity-persistent Period Infantile Asthma

Objective:The paper focused on Chinese materia medica?CMM?and acupoint application for children suffering from different patterns of chronicity-persistent period asthma in accordance with the TCM pattern differentiation,so as to observe the clinical effects,discuss the feasibility as well as provide the convenient and effective treatment for the disease.Methods: 60 standard cases were randomly divided into two groups,including the application group and the CMM group with 30 patients respectively.Three formulas were applied in the application group in accordance with the TCM pattern differentiation of asthma,including cold-pattern asthma,heat-pattern asthma and deficient-pattern asthma.The main acupoints were selected for the asthma,including Fei shu,Dan zhong,Shen que,Ding chuan and Tian tu.Moreover,the acupoints were selected in accordance with the TCM pattern differentiation,including Feng men and Zhong wan for cold-pattern asthma,Feng long and Kong zui for heat-pattern asthma,as well as Pi shu,Zu san li,Shen shu and Guan yuan for deficient-pattern asthma.The application was used every two days and 2 to 4hours for each time in the application group,while in the CMM group,the empirical formula namely modified San San Er was given by oral administration 2 to 3 times a day.Both therapies were controlled in a month.The asthma symptoms,the sign integral as well as the value of PEF and FEV₁ were recorded before and after the treatment,so as to caculate the therapeuticeffect index in each group and between groups before and make a contrastive analysis of the results.Results:?1?Clinical effect comparisons: in the application group of 27 cases,there were 6 cases of clinical control,7 cases of markedly effective result,8cases of effective result and 6 cases of ineffective result,and the total effective rate was 77.78%.In the CMM group of 28 cases,there were 9 cases of clinical control,8 cases of markedly effective result,7 cases of effective result and 4 cases of ineffective result,and the total effective rate was 85.71%.There was no significant difference between both groups by comparing the clinical effects.?P > 0.05?.?2?Both therapies had significant improving effects on each pattern for asthma children.In the application group,the effects on cold-pattern asthma and heat-pattern asthma were better than deficient-pattern asthma,while the effect of CMM on those three patterns all showed the significant results.?3?Both therapies had significant improving effects on the main symptoms and signs,and both groups achieved the same efficacy after the statistics process?P > 0.05?.?4?Both therapies elevated the value of PEF and FEV₁,and there was no statistical significance by comparing both groups?P > 0.05?.Conclusions :?1?Both therapies can improve the symptoms,signs and pulmonary function of each pattern of the chronicity-persistent period infantile asthma,which is one of effective alternatives in clinical practice.?2?In clinical practice,the pattern-differentiation based acupoint applicaiton can be used for children who have difficulties in oral administration and suffer from the chronicity-persistent period asthma with both cold and heat patterns.
