Population aging is the trends of universal global population development in the 21 st century.By the end of 2014,the elderly population of China has been more than 212 million and the degree of a ging has reached 15.5%.Since the degree of aging exceeds the level of the current social and economic development,the phenomenon of "getting old before getting rich" will appear in C hina by large-scale,the housing problem of the urban elderly will also become increasingly prominent.A large number of existing settle ments in our city ages with the aging population.It has been unable to meet the basic living needs of the elderly.Affected by the background of social and economic conditions and the requirements of sustainable development and traditional culture and other factors,the elderly fitness update for the existing settlements will be an undoubtedly important way to improve the living conditions and the life quality of the elderly.Firstly to the housing needs of older people as the starting point,summed up the elderly ideal living environment should meet the safety,comfort,convenience and other requirements.By pointing out the housing need of elder people,the first part of the paper attempts to summarize that the ideal elderly living environment should meet the safety,comfort,convenience and other requirements.The second part of the paper analyzes the contradiction between the present situation of the existing residential house and the elderly living need.The author points out the necessity of elderly-oriented renewal,and clear out elderly-oriented renewal of the existing settlements is a process of continuous improvement with support from the government policy and the social resources.In accordance with the experience of developed countries and regions,the third part proposes recommendations of suitable elderly-oriented renewal for social environment,and also puts forward to improve the relevant laws and policies and mobilize related social resources.Finally,the last part of the paper summarizes and points out that the suitable elderly-oriented renewal for social community has some limitations,however it is an effective way to meet the needs of existing settlements in the elderly in o ur current situation,and it has inspiration and guidance significance to response to an aging population of living problem.
