The Renovation Study Of Existing Residential Buildings In Handan For Elderly Based On Home Based Care Model

As China is facing rapidly growing aging population, there is an urgent need to make a more comfortable and secure living environment for old people through architectural design. In accordance with the traditions and actual conditions of our country, home-based care is suitable for Chinese people.This paper determines that home-based care is the major pension mode in Handan through analyzing the current situation and development trends of the aging, physiological and psychological characteristics, and living features of old people. Through researching representative buildings Asia Pacific Century residential gardens, Pearl Garden, and Zhaodu New Residential, this paper explores how to optimize the traffic system and the residential interior space in order. The exploration aims at transforming the existing residential buildings for the old people of various families and with various physical conditions. The paper also concludes the principles, methods, and developing trends of remodeling residential buildings for old people.Aging of the population influences every aspect of the society. Elderly-oriented remodeling of the existing buildings accords with Handan economic development and social standards. Through the research and analysis of the representative buildings, this paper intends to provide some enlightenment for the elderly-oriented remodeling of the existing buildings.
