Study On The Evolution Of Urban Spatial Structure In Tibet

In the vast land of China,due to the influence of natural conditions and cultural environment,there are a wide variety of settlements and towns,which has distinct regional characteristics.But in the tide of globalization and modernization,the design and construction pursuing efficiency,causing the towns gradually lose their original regional characteristics,leading to the awkward situation that “most of the cities look similar to each other”.Tibetan region is located in the Ginghai-Tibet plateau.It is the province with the highest in our country.It is featured with typical plateau natural environment.Tibet is also the place where Tibetan gathers in China.So that it has a strong ethnic background here.Dominator in history praised highly of Tibetan Buddhism,which led to the universal religion as well as the unique phenomenon of theocracy here.Thus the forming condition and development background of the urban areas of Tibet is unique,forming the town spatial structure with extremely Tibetan characteristics.But in the tide of rapid construction and expansion of the urban areas of China,Tibet's regional characteristics have been gradually weakened.This paper attaches great importance to the regional city features,takes medium urban spatial structure as the research scale and carries out in-depth analysis on the evolution of urban spatial structure in Tibetan region.The full text is divided into five chapters.It researches on the characteristics and evolution process of spatial structure of towns in Tibetan region from whole to part,and summarizes the evolution rule and dynamic mechanism.The first chapter is introduction,which briefly describes the origin and research background of the paper,specifies the concept of spatial structure of towns referred to in this paper and defines the scope of the urban areas of Tibet.It analyzes and summarizes domestic and foreign related research and specifies the research contents,research methods and research framework in this paper.The second chapter analyzes the present situation of urban areas of Tibet,combs the external conditions of its formation and development of from two natural and humanistic aspects,divides towns according to hierarchies and root causes,and summarizes common characteristics of the Tibetan towns from five aspects which are size and distribution,economy and culture,urban landscape,infrastructure and planning and management.The third chapter studies the characteristics of the urban space structure of Tibetan area.It overviews the traditional thoughts affecting the urban layout of the Tibet area,and explains its role in the construction process of traditional Tibetan towns.It combs and illustrates the characteristics of the urban areas of Tibet from two aspects which are the external form and internal space structure.The fourth chapter describes the spatial structure evolution of the major towns in Tibetan area.It selects downtown areas of Lhasa,Shigatse,Gyangze.Basing on the data collected in field survey,combs the history of the town,analyzes the satellite images over the years,provides some quantitative descriptions and elaborates the evolution process of the space.The fifth chapter reveals the evolution law and dynamic mechanism of the urban spatial structure in Tibetan region.It bases on the case analysis in the fourth chapter and summarizes plane extension rule and change rule as a whole of the evolution of spatial structure of towns.And it explores the driving force of the changes as well as the driving way.The last part is the conclusion and expectation.It summarizes and elaborates the research content in this paper.
