Research On Spatial Morphology Evolution Of Resource-based Towns In Mountain Area

The development of small towns is a continuous process, while the urban spatial morphology recording the development track in a unique way, every town has its own unique development path and spatial morphology. Resource-based mountainous towns along with the development and utilization of natural resources and developed as a main function of mountain towns has developed gradually. At present, the spatial pattern in resource-based mountain towns has become the bottleneck of its development, and the altering of its industrial structure requires optimization in spatial pattern simultaneously.The spatial expansion in resource-based mountainous towns has evolved due to certain factors such as terrain, resource distribution, socio-economic, ecological environment etc, and it also displays diverse pattern modes with regard to its developing phrase. Because of the economic interests in resources exploitation, the lack of rational thinking and planning, more and more resource-based mountainous towns in the depletion of resources, ecological environment, the transformation dilemma.The thesis takes Tianba town Xuanwei city as an example, trying to analyzing the characteristics and major factors from the spatial morphology evolution of resource-based mountainous towns deeply, then summarizing the basic laws of urban spatial morphology evolution in resource-based mountainous towns. All thesises falls into six chapters.The first chapter is the theoretic preparation section, defines resource-based mountainous towns and urban spatial morphology, explains the background and significance of the research, then proposes the research programThe second chapter is the theoretic researching section, based on existing studies and making a systematic literature review on foreign and domestic studies on researching development of urban spatial morphology and resource-based mountainous towns, then analyzing and concluding the basic characteristics, spatial types and current problems.The third chapter is discussion of the process, and researches Tianba’s urban social and economic and spatial development condition in different historical periods, then systematically analyzing and concluding current characteristics of Tianba spatial morphology development in different periods.The fourth chapter researches and analyzes Tianba’s outer spatial feature, internal spatial structure, and functional space in different period by using the theory of urban spatial evolution.The fifth chapter summarizes the main factors and basic laws of Tianba’s spatial morphology.The sixth chapter is the summery, forecasts the future development direction of Tianba’s spatial morphology, puts forward the conception of sustainable development and extends to the Tianba as representative of resource-based mountainous towns.
