Reciprocating compressor has precise internal structure and many moving parts as the key equipment of large and medium-sized refining companies. The normal production of the enterprise was affected when the reciprocating compressor running instability or failure, even considerable economic losses to the enterprise was caused. With the continuous development of industrial technology, reciprocating compressor and other important production equipment should be equiped the stable and effective control system in order to real-time monitor, control and diagnose for the key components for reciprocating compressor when automation control level enhances unceasingly. The reciprocating compressor equiped the control system could analysis the reasons and positions of abnormity equipment under the overall environment, improve the production ability and cut the cost of production.Since the traditional relay control system was replaced by the Programmable Logic Controller on the mid 20 th century in the developed countries, PLC(Programmable Logic Controller PLC) control system was widely used all over the world and the function of PLC control system completed. In this paper, we use S7-400 fh fault secure redundant fault-tolerant control system which launched a new generation control system by Siemens company as reciprocating compressor PLC control system. The S7-400 fh fault secure redundant fault-tolerant control system has some characters,such as fast scanning time, high security level, since the diagnosis fault alarm, online hot plug etc., which improves the security and stability of the PLC control system and real-time monitore the key components for reciprocating compressor, parameter alarm, records of the trend analysis and fault information, and many other functional requirements.We first analyses the PLC control system for reciprocating compressor and expounds S7-400 PLC control system. Secondly, we design Reciprocating compressor of PLC control system. The system’s design was divided into two parts, namely the hardware part and software department. We design with S7-400 fh control system configuration and introduce the system of CPU module, power supply module, I/O module and the operator station/engineer station. Meanwhile, according to the reciprocating compressor control requirements, we designed the connection of the I/O point. On th other hand, we mainly design interlocking logic signals according to the reciprocating compressor interlock the parking. Finally, we could real-time monitor reciprocating compressor by the S7-400 fh control system through the field test and operation.
