In the development and mass production process of locomotive, motor vehicle air compressor (hereinafter referred to as "air compressor"), the whole performance tests of air compressor (commonly known as "type test")must be practiced many times in order to ensure the reliability and economy of locomotive, motor vehicle traction. With the rapid development of China's railway transportation, air compressor of locomotive, motor vehicle generally requires a rather high requirement in the aspect of reliable performance and high degree automation of automated intelligent control system for the compressor performance test. The purpose is to meet the China railway high-speed, heavy development.In this paper, the automated intelligent control system for the compressor performance test is discussed according to the development requirements of the localization project about "The Whole Performance Test-Bed Design for Locomotive, Motor Vehicle Air Compressor", which comes from State Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Railway. In the first part, the existing air compressor full-performance test control systems of domestic and foreign were studied. Then, the system employed programmable logic controller (PLC) as the main control unit, PLC and Multi-channel Switch as the data acquisition unit to realize the system functions,such as the dot-matrix LCD (LCM) Chinese display function, multi-port stand-alone communication capabilities and the real-time data function used to record the historical record. This paper also presents the full-performance remote control and data processing system platform of air compressor, used configuration software as the monitoring and control model, on the basis of the comprehensive evaluation of its reliability, operability, efficiency and economy and other factors.The final examination and debugging results showed that the system implemented all the required functions, various indexes achieved desired objectives such as stable operation and reliable design.
