Electronic components are the base and core of all electronic devices. The failure of the components will take effect on the reliability and quality of the electronic devices. The failure is the main cause of the fault of the electronic devices. It is very important to discover the reasons leading to the failure and find approaches to avoid the repeating failure. Studying the typical cases of electronic components is a good way to fix the knowledge and accumulate the experience of failure analysis, which can present direct and effective reference for the designers, producers, customers and technicians.This thesis focuses on the failure analysis of the switching power supply(SPG). Firstly, the main failure modes and mechanism of most electronic components in the SPGs, such as IC, resistor-capacitor unit, discrete components, board-level circuit and so on. Secondly, the typical failure cases are formed according the failure analysis of the electronic components. Finally, management system of failure information of electronic components is developed, including the base data management, base information management, failure information management, case management, failure information statistics and analysis.
