LTE wireless network planning is a n important part in the operator’s LTE network construction. LTE wireless network planning considers the capacity requirements, coverage requirements and other special requirements, combining with the topography and landform characters of coverage areas in order to design appropriate and feasible wireless networks with minimal investment. It is of great importance to the coverage, capacity and performance of wireless network.This thesis elaborates the concept and main characteristics of LTE technology, and then describes the concept, signification and several targets of LTE wireless network planning. It emphatically analyzes the LTE wireless network planning of Nanjing telecom. The main contents are as follows.(1) On the basis of the landscapes, humanities, economic features of Nanjing, the coverage planning of LTE wireless network in Nanjing is conducted through regionalism, propagation model correction, link budget, coverage calculation and site requirements estimation, etc. The scale of the network is determined in the satisfaction of coverage requirements.(2) On the basis of the business status of the mobile network in Nanjing telecom, combining with business models and business development goals, the capacity planning is conducted through subscriber prediction, busy hour traffic prediction, site requirements estimation. The scale of the network is determined in the satisfaction of capacity requirements. The result is also compared with the coverage planning.(3) The output scale of the coverage and capacity planning of Nanjing is the larger of the results in(1) and(2), and the Nanjing LTE network topology planning and simulations are conducted on the basis of it. The final site planning information is determined by constantly adjusting the sites during verification to satisfy the requirements of planning metrics.(4) Combing with the characteristics and physical situations of engineering implementations of Nanjing and from the perspective of prospect design, the project construction schemes of Nanjing LTE wireless network are given in respects of prospect design, setting principles of equipment and antenna-feeder systems. Then, the performance of the network after construction is analyzed through DT testing. Test results show that the coverage probability of Nanjing reaches up to more than 95%, which implies that the system metrics after construction can satisfy the planning requirements.
