The topic of planning and designing LTE network is very worthy of attention. The quality of wireless network construction depends largely on the planning and designing. Now our country’s LTE network construction is still going on. We shuould make full use of existing resources to achieve win-win situation through reasonable network planning. So the cost of network construction is very low and the network coverage is very good. We also can safeguard the stability of the construction and operation of the network.We study the dense urban LTE network planning and designing in this thesis. First, we introduce on the basis of wireless network planning, including radio propagation characteristics, radio propagation model and antenna technology characteristics. We make LTE network planning targets requirements and processes combined with the technical characteristics. Second, we focus on the LTE network planning methods, including the propagation model calibration, link budget, coverage planning, capacity planning, frequency planning. It is a very detailed analysis and discussion. Finally, dense urban area as a practical case of LTE network planning and designing for studying.It is divided into pre-planning and detailed planning. Through practical engineering to vigorous explanation, the city has been corrected in line with the local propagation model and combined link budget calculated base station coverage radius and coverage area of the base station. The size of dense urban areas pre-estimated by utilizing the existing network of base stations and the old room obtained preliminary is fifty-two LTE base station sites.In order to verify the size of the pre-planning of base stations, base station for programming all parameters for detailed planning and setup.Through its network simulation software atoll, drawn RSRP,RS-SINR, the average throughput of downlink and the average throughput of uplink.In order to meet the requirements of the LTE network planning through adding fourteen new base stations and adjust the parameters.So we get the final output planning results.The results show that fifty-two planning existing network base stations and fourteen new base stations fully meet the planning objectives and requirements. Wireless providers can build the LTE network according to the results of this plan.
