With the rapid development of communication industry and communication technologyinnovation and progress, people require more intense for transmission and exchange of data.So thedigital communications play an increasingly important role in everyday life.And the number ofusers is expected to reach a total of seven hundred millions up to the end of2014years.The system of EV-DO is an evolved version of CDMA20001X,it is also one of the criteria ofthe third generation mobile communication technology. Due to the rapid development of the field ofcommunications and users require more strongly for high-speed data, hence we need a system toprovide high-speed packet data services. The EV-DO system requires a separate1.25MHz CDMAchannel. This channel is only used to provide high-speed data services. Hence, the prior link datarate will be up to2.4megabits per second, the reverse link data rate can be achieved153.6kilobitsper second..This paper begin with illustrating the basic theory of EV-DO. combining with technicalfeatures of EV-DO network conduct the planning work of EV-DO network.The key technologies ofEV-DO system include the time-division multiplexing of prior link, intelligent SchedulingAlgorithm, virtual switch of prior link, adaptive modulation and coding and hybrid automaticretransmission, Multicarrier RLP,load balancingand so on. Comparing with the structure andcharacteristics of CDMA20001X network, we can find out the similarities and differencesbetween CDMA20001X network planning and EV-DO network planning. By understanding the1Xnetwork construction methods,we can develop the feasible scheme of EV-DO networkplanning.This paper introduces the EV-DO network planning processes and characteristics anddescribes work to be required for the planning process. This paper introduces the networkplanning,simultation, optimization of the EV-DO network.According to the result ofsimulation,we can analysis the statu of EV-DO network.At last,we prospect the developmentprospects of EV-DO network.
