A Study Of Medical Library Extension Services Models For Public Health

With the development of the Internet and new media, the traditional mode of information service can not adapt to the development needs of the times. The innovation of the service model is the only way for the development of the library, and the medical library is no exception. The increasing public demand for health information forced the medical libraries to seek the transformation development and explore the possibility to carry out the public health service. At the same time the medical library extending the public health service is conducive to enhancing the image and prestige of the Medical Library and restructuring and development of new ideas. In order to better implement health extension services to the public, This paper which is based on the current situation of medical library extension services, public health information needs survey and actual case studies proposed extended service models of the Medical Library for the public health.The research background, status, research purpose, meaning, content, method and framework were introduced in the Chapter I. The status quo of the extension service of medical libraries in China based on the definition the related concepts was surveyed in Chapter II. The Chapter III carried out a network research in which the public health information needs based on the related elaboration was researched. Chapter IV analyzed the extended service cases of medical libraries and other types libraries in order to provide experience for reference. Five kinds of medical library extended service model for public health, such as public lending service model, Internet health service model, medical auxiliary service mode, joint service model and special population service model which were based on the analysis on the model elements of Medical Library Extension Service and preliminary study were summarized and put forward in Chapter V. Paper view was summarized in Chapter VI. Meanwhile, the wider public health information demand results and the medical library for the public health extension service model in the practical effect should be further investigated.
