Optical communication is based on optical wave, suitable for usage within long distance. Compared with other means of communication, it has the incomparable superiority, therefore is attached great importance to. Company’s existing GPT-C optical communication platform is 4U-chassis type with higher cost. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a cost-effective optical communication platform, so as to promote the market competitiveness. New research and development of GPT- D optical communication platform is aimed at miniaturization, integration, high reliability, high cost performance as the goal. It chooses 3U chassis standards, and adopts modular design and the reserved space system extension.This thesis plans to give GPT-D optical communication platform which is newly researched and developed a detailed structure design, and carry on research into the thermal design and experiments of the equipment. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, According to the requirements of the new optical communication platform development, determine the general requirements and basic principles of structural design, and introduce the design method of finite element.Secondly, Optimize the general layout design of the new optical communication platform, and carry out the thermal design and calculation to the whole machine after integration, module and a printed board step by step.Thirdly, According to high cost performance requirements of the new optical communication platform, solve the costs problem of the traditional equipment, carry out the optimization of the sheet-metal chassis design, aluminum-profile module design,injection-molding panel design, and design of tri-proofing of salt fog and high temperature and high humidity.Finally, Based on 6 sigma-ET thermal simulation software, simplify the established detailed model and carry out thermal simulation analysis on the established model, to ensure that equipment can work reliably in high temperature environment. Designed and built the experiment platform, using ATM2400 multi-channel temperature detecting system. Examine and analyze the internal temperature of inner modules of the newoptical communication platform to verify the exactness of the preliminary calculation and simulation results.
