Optical fiber coupling technology can simultaneously multiple semiconductor laser output coupling into double cladding fiber laser, so that it can be the whole circle of semiconductor laser and uniformity processing, not only overcame the semiconductor laser shape and uniformity of bad defects, and to realize the laser energy concentration, greatly improve the beam quality and output of optical power, therefore, fiber coupled laser light source has very big advantage compared with other light source, the light source for lighting can achieve ideal lighting effect, the main work of this article is the application of fiber coupled laser light source to the illuminator, study the working principle of the illuminator, and designed a general structure of the fiber coupled laser illuminator, and through the experiments to verify its performance.First of all, this paper expounds the working principle and control system of the the optical fiber coupled laser illuminator. On the basis of understanding the multi-mode LD and pump and double cladding fiber structure, this paper expounds the principle, characteristics, and methods of the fiber coupling technology application.Second, abstract thermal model, to analyze the causes of heat, this paper introduces the principle of heat radiation and heat dissipation.Then, designed a general structure of the high power fiber coupled laser illuminator, including the design of optical system and the design of the mechanical structure, combined with the characteristics of LD and optical fiber, and compact structure lightweight design requirements, adopts the combination of initiative and passive cooling method, and simulation module of UG senior control apparatus for heat sink in finite element thermal analysis, analysis of the heat dissipation effect.Finally, we done a series of experiments on the prototype, including optical power, characteristics, temperature and outdoor test experiment, the experimental results showed that the prototype performance good, fully meet the design requirements.
