In recent years, the process technology of Ultra deep submicron integrated circuit has obtained the unprecedented development-improved chip performance, but high-power chips are at variance with requirement for high-performance, low-power performance of industry control and portable products. At present, low power design become the difficulties and focus of back-end MCU design. The research mentioned in this thesis for MCU low-power design in industrial control is very important for engineering applications.The thesis made a research into progress in technology research and common technical proposal of low-power divide first. On this basis, we made a power source analysis on G14A-type low-power MCU of RL series, and on the basis of the existing process, a design flow and method of low-power for G14A is proposed. The achievements in this thesis are:1. In the netlist synthesizing stage, add the procedures of inserting self gating, and reasonably configuring clock gating according to the layout characteristics of G14A product to reduce power consumption.2. In the early stage of layout design, introduce N2N procedures based on RC-Compiler tools to cut down circuit scale and achieve the effect of reducing power consumption.3. In the stage of generating clock tree, add the design for reducing power consumption, at the same time, according to the frequency characteristics of this product, take the technology of reducing skew value, abandoning the design method of Clock Cloning and applying Excluded pin definition, so as to reduce the product’s power consumption better.4. Adopt the low-power design that is suitable for this product when calling TCF file, which not only optimizes time-sequence but achieves better effect of reducing power consumption.At last, the technological designs are emulated in this thesis, and the simulation results show that G14A-type MCU has lower power consumption while shows excellent performance. In addition, the low-power design method of this subject is also suitable for other back-end design of MCU.
