Performance evaluation plays asignificance and role in the entire organization’s human resource management, and can provide continuous influences throughout the entire human resource management, such as planning, recruitment, training, compensation and benefits administration. Performance evaluation is an important guarantee to constraint employee’s behavior, and to realizethe organizational goals as well. On the other hand, with the development of economy and society, new media obtains a rapid development, which has brought great impact on traditional media, especially newspapers. The newspapers are getting smaller and smaller living space. This requires current newspaper media to make timely transition, on the other hand to constantly enhance their management capabilities by using modern management techniques and methods, in particular, to improve the current human resource management model, to optimize current performance appraisal, thereby improving it’s economic efficiency.This paper chooses the performance evaluation of editorial staff in newspaper as a research object. Newspaper is a traditional cultureindustry, the nature of editorial staff’s work is to produce spiritual products. Therefore, editorial staff’s work is difficult to be measured by quantitative indicators. For a long time, newspaper media do not pay enough attention on the editorial staffs performance evaluation, Therefore, less relevant theoretical study of the performance evaluation methods of newspaper’s editorial staff are not perfect.This paper studies the performance appraisal of XJ news of its’ editorial staff,to identify existing problems and to analyze these issues through specific studies.Meanwhile, introducing advanced experience of performance appraisal in foreign newspapers can provide valuable reference for other newspapers in China. In this paper, the research is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction, this section focuses on the research background, significance, research methods and technical route, while the related literature were reviewed; the second part is the theoretical overview, the concept of performance appraisal, methods, evaluation of the content and the implementation of the program were defined; the third part analyzes the status quo of the XJ news editorial staff performance appraisal, the existence of the problem and the reasons; the fourth part conducts in-depth research of the advanced media experience and practice in terms of editorial staff performance appraisal; fifth part is based on the fourth part, for the current XJ news’ problems in performance appraisal, put forward the corresponding improvement suggestions and affordable measures; the sixth part is the conclusion, pointing out the findings and deficiencies of this article.
