The rapid development of urban economy and the acceleration of urbanization process have increased the number of motor vehicle rapidly,Thus the urban traffic pressure is growing.With "Driving difficult" issues highlighting, "parking" also seriously affects people’s life, especially in urban commercial center where there are lots of people and traffic. The increasing demands of more parking facilities make the old ones unable to adapt to the current needs of the society. Therefore, it is very important to establish the parking information management system which is in line with the urban development. It can help us rationally manage the urban parking information and improve the utilization rate of existing parking lots.City parking management information system based on ArcGIS Engine is put forward under the background of this parking planning problems demand. This kind of method, using geographic information system(GIS) technology to manage urban parking information, can largely improve the efficiency of parking information management and save cost. The system is designed to manage the city parking information data scientifically and effectively, help the relevant management departments to plan parking lot according to the data, and help them improve work efficiency.Design and develop of system, with the functions of the status quo of input, information inquiry, data analysis, using ArcGIS Engine development tools, Visual C# development tools provided by Microsoft Corp, combined with the GeoDatabase data model, ArcSDE, spatial database and SQL Server relational database. The system overall design, database design and detailed design of three design stages.We testing the practicability of the system’s management and analysis functions, using parking status data of downtown area in Weifang city.
