With the fast and efficient development of our national economy, the pace of our life becomes faster and faster. People face pressure from all sides, leading to a rapid growth of all kinds of chronic diseases, especially the cardiovascular diseases. People are eager to timely know their own cardiovascular fitness. Basic ECG is the common method for people to monitor the heart. Conventional ECG equipment cannot meet the needs of timely grasping the disease fitness for patients with cardiovascular disease.Portable ECG devices that are produced by some large companies are expensive and incompatible, So researching and developing a portable ECG device with high compatibility and low-cost is of significance for the early prevention, timely detection of cardiovascular disease, accuratly and comprehensivly understanding of the cardiovascular conditions.To solve this problem, by fully considering the currently populary electronic communication technology and the development trend of smart phones,we develope a electrocardiogram(ECG) monitoring software, which is based on USB Host transmission and Android operating system. Smart phones or tablet with Android operating system work as the terminal of ECG monitoring software. They provide real-time ECG monitoring. ECG monitoring software mainly includes three parts:(1)USB communication module. The ECG acquisition chip real-time transfered ECG signals that had been parsed to the tablet’s USB Host port.(2) Android software displaying module. Android Software continuously displays ECG signal from USB port.(3) IEEE 11073-10406 standard module. ECG monitoring system would convert the collected ECG signal to a unified data format for the Android software through the interaction process of IEEE 11073-10406 standard communication protocols.Implementation of ECG monitoring software and the transmission process of signal are described in detail in this paper. The portable Android platform based ECG system reducs the cost for the user and achieves the interconnectivity of ECG devices by adding the IEEE 11073-10406 standard protocol.This ECG monitoring software has affordable price and advanced technology.It has great significance for people to timely prevent heart disease and improve quality of life.Finally,we have verified and tested ECG monitoring software. The results show thatthe software system can realize interaction process of IEEE 11073-10406 standard protocols and can smoothly display the dynamic ECG waveforms in the Android device.The software is very stable and practical, which meets the needs of individuals and families. It achieves the expected goal.
