In the field of bartack sewing machine control applications, industrial computer or touch control panel is usually used to control the system as a host computer. The advantages of industrial computer or touch control panel are their perfect functions, but the price is more expensive and less portable. The industrial computer or touch control panel can not meet the needs of mobile control in many applications. Portable equipment based on Android operating system not only has a good user experience, low price, and can be carried in the production field, which is suitable for replacing the traditional industrial control computer and touch panel as host computer in bartack sewing machine.In this paper, the design and implementation of Android based bartack sewing machine control system are completed after analyzing the characteristics of bartack sewing machine. Through the research of this project, the main work of this paper is abstracted as follows:(1) The characteristics and structure of Android system are analyzed for the design of software system; (2) The overall design of the bartack sewing machine control system based on the Android is presented, including the hardware system and the software system; (3) The AVR. mirco-controller based hardware system is designed, as well as the communication interface for Android portable equipments. The communication interface integrated the three communication modes, Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB. Through analyzing the process of the above three communication ways, the common parts of the three communication ways are summarized. Taking the common part as a basis for a unified process, the Android transparent serial port transmission module is developed. The user can select the host Android portable device to connect and implement the two-way communication. For this, the users do not need to pay attention to the details of the communication process. The three communication ways can easily be achieved by program configurations and read&write functions. (4) The control software of the Android based bartack sewing machine is developed. The functions include the control of the lower computer by the communication interface, as well as the reading and displaying of the status parameters. The designed system is applied to the bartack sewing machine by wireless connection and control, and the test results show the good performance of the designed system.
