Research On University Libraries’ Information Service Based On Wechatpublic Platform

With the capabilities of Wechat and Wechat public platform constantly updated, the number of Wechat users grow rapidly, which causes the communities’ increasingly widespread concern. University libraries use traditional information service approach to serve customers, but also realize the value of Wechat in customer service areas. In the situation of university libraries launching Wechat service, what are the problems with it? What are the needs of its users? and which degree do users accept it? Are there any good strategies and recommendations about it? More in-depth study of these questions in this article will be done.This study was based on technology acceptance model, integrating technology acceptance model, theory of reasoned action, innovation diffusion theory, media richness theory, network externality theory, by the means of literature research, questionnaires, statistical analysis and model building methods, deeply studied the use of Wechat public platform in university libraries’ information service. Firstly, on the basis of current researches, the paper analyzed Wechat’s and Wechat public platform’s origins, concepts and characteristics. Secondly, from the perspective of platform, used web-based survey approach to conduct a survey study about domestic 985 and 211 university libraries’ Wechat platform, involving Wechat user name setting, certification status, account type, function description and added auto-reply, custom menus, information push server, totally six aspects. Then, from users’ perspective, took TAM technology acceptance model to study the use of Wechat service in university libraries, designed individual characteristics, system characteristics, social factors as three dimensions, designed specific variables under each dimension, built university libraries Wechat service’s user acceptance model, used a variety of testing methods to verify the model. Based on the model, we designed a questionnaire and carried out surveys to collect basic information about university libraries Wechat users, users’ demands and factors affecting user accepting university libraries Wechat, and then, used EXCEL, SPSS and AMOS soft wares to process and analysis survey results.Finally, this paper summarized the results of the analysis, proposed some suggestions, and looked to the future researches.
