Electronic shelf label, or ESL for short, is widely used in foreign countries. Supermarkets in Europe, Australia, North America, and some developed countries of Asia, began to use ESLs instead of traditional paper labels. ESL has the advantages of high reliability, fast update, save manpower and paper, but in China, ESL technology developed slowly in the past few years due to the reason of technology, finance and social environment. Accompanying with the process of economic globalization and the development of economy, the cost of manpower rose up quickly in recent years, and thus makes the ESL technique got the chance for developing.As a shelf label in supermarket, nodes of ESL have the properties of large quantity, frequent update and accumulating in small space; for achieving the goal of manpower saving and efficiency improving, nodes should have the advantage of low-power consumption, high reliability and fast update. Many of the developed ESL system focused only on low-power consumption and high reliability, but neglected that large quantity of nodes will affect the power consumption and data exchanging.This design builds up a network for ESL system bases on Zig Bee technique, and takes electronic paper as the display device. Focuses on the properties of large quantity of nodes and low-power consumption, and makes sure the ESL system can run with low-power consumption. Finishes the design of hardware circuit to reduce development costs, and reduces the peripheral circuit to reduce power consumption; In-depth discusses the features of Zig Bee technology and completes the software programming of ESL nodes; Sets the parameter for each node, and tests the solution for low-power consumption; Simulates a large number of data exchange, analyzes the problem and puts forth the need of router improvement; Determines the design scheme of router and finishes the hardware circuit; In-depth discusses the TCP/IP protocol and the LWIP, and completes the software programming of Ethernet Gateway; designs an experiment to verify the effect of Ethernet Gateway and complete the system optimization; Put forward the solution for ESL system with low-power consumption and multi-nodes.
