Electronic Shelf Label System(ESLs) is aelectronic display equipment whichfixes on shelf and can replace traditional paper pricedisplay. collectingdatas through ahost computer equipped with a database.and sending datas to the electronic shelf labelof terminal through nodes with wireless transmission. At last.Electronic label pircewill be displayed. Electronic label loads with temperature and humidity sensors. Sothe environmental parameters where the label located can be passed to the hostcomputer as a reference for the management of goods, It Can be widely used in areaof supermarkets, warehouses and other merchandise management. Currently, wirelesselectronic shelf label system has been gradually increasing used in foreigncountries.China is under development and in initial stage, We anticipate that in thenear future, wireless electronic shelf labels will eventually replace paper shelf labels, and will have a very broad market and application scenarios in cargo management andinternet of things.Paper focuses on the analysis of the value that electronic shelf label systems areused in all aspects, and domestic and international developments. We study shortrangewireless communications technology in the internet of things, several topologies inwireless communication, hardware implementations of each module, the selection ofthe software platform and system network design. Enabling a combination ofhardware and software, and finally complete the wireless electronic shelf label system. The system includes AP(Access Point)modules and sevseral terminalmodules ofelectronic label. Host computer passes datas to the AP nodes through wired way, andAP nodes broadcastdatas out. According to the location monitoring, terminalelectronic label will determine whether to receivedatas and display on theelectronicpaper screen. The system consists of the transceiver module which includes a lowpower16-bitMCU of TI MSP430seriesand NRF24L01RF chips, RS232serial com-municationbetween the PC and the AP. Terminal receivers include electronic-paper displaymodule, mainly composed by the electronic paper display drivecircuits and electronicpaper display screen. In addition, terminal also incorpo-rates DHT11temperature andhumidity sensor module. It builds a star commun-ication network between eachterminal and AP modules through using Simplici-TI protoc-ol to achieve a data transfer function of the entire electronic shelf label systems. RF transceiver modulecommunication support address detection and CRC test.Finaly, paper uses the USB emulator downloadprogram to the hardware modulesunder IAR Embedded Workbenchsoftware development tool. Each module isconnected after successful commissioning. Up to now, entire electronic shelf labelsystem is completed by the AP from host computer to transfer data to the terminallabel, and displays on the electronic-paper screen as well as environmentalinformation transmission from host computer to the AP. Finaly it completes the datasending and receiving functions for the entire system and completes eachsystemmoduleandlow-powercapacitytests.
