Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is considered as one of the most promising and valuable emerging technologies in this century and received a worldwide attention. Currently, the majority of Powerful countries in military and technology all over the world have done a lot of well-known research projects, and achieved fruitful results of research and application. Now, WSN technology is widely used in many fields such as military defense, environmental monitoring, and smart home, intelligent buildings, health care and so on.However, independent WSN network cannot offer more comprehensive services; the field of its application is severely limited. In this time,it is a hot research at home and abroad that to make a tighter integration of WSN and other existing mature network such as Internet, mobile communication network, WLAN,in order to support and expand the WSN effectively.Among the many solutions, the method of gateway in application layer works best. In the method, the gateway acts as a key role to convert different network protocol. It is responsible for the whole network data fusion, and it is the link between the different network’s connections.In this paper, the author design and realize an embedded gateway communication system to achieve the two-way data transmission of WSN and Ethernet. It’s hardware platform design with dual MCU design and divided into ZigBee module and the main controller module. The two modules communicate with serial interface. The system uses CC2530. STM32, and ENC28J60. The author designed related memory modules, and set aside some pins for the upgrade.First of all, use Z-Stack to build a wireless sensor network on the ZigBee module, and program applications to achieve the two-way data transmission between ZigBee network and serial interface. Second, transplant uC/OS-II operating system and LwIP on the STM32module, and build a TCP server, program applications to realize the bidirectional data transmission between Ethernet and serial interface.In the end,define serial interface data transmission standards of the two modules, connect the two modulus’s serial interface circuit to achieve the data conversion.After completed the software and hardware design of the gateway communication system, tested the system, analyzed the data and summarized the design. It indicated that the design of ZigBee and Ethernet gateway communication system is very practical, high data reliability, scalability, and it can stably work with a good prospect.
