ERP, which is the abbreviation of Enterprise Resource Planning, was proposed by one of the world famous American management consulting company, the Gartner Group Inc. in 1990. It was originally defined as a sort of software application, and has been developed into one of the modern enterprise management theory in recent years. ERP system is defined as a kind of management platform that helps enterprise managers to make decisions by means of systematic management theory on the basis of technology information. The research of ERP theory and system has great significance in exploring the development of modern enterprise information management.More than 90% of the current domestic manufacturing corporations are small and medium-sized enterprises. Although most of these enterprises perform relatively well in operation, the informatization degree is quite low and some of them are even totally rely on manual technology, which cost a large amount of human resources. Take “Joy Star” as example, as a small manufacturing enterprise, the business process is relatively complex and the material type is varied, which requires entering various statistical statements manually. As a result, the company expects to implement ERP system in order to accomplish centralized control and data management as well as standardize business process and share information. The management level and efficiency of the enterprise would be enhanced significantly by means of changing from manual management to information system approach, which standardize the business model and unify the operation process. This paper mainly focuses on the problem of “Joy Star”, firstly analyzed the current ERP system and the demand of enterprises in detail, and then expounds the basic structure and process of ERP and develops the basic design idea and scheme of ERP system. According to the forward research, the ERP system which used in small and medium-scaled enterprises is designed and developed based on “.net” in the paper. This system designs and accomplishes the system and function structure as well as the data model and users cases by means of using research tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the Entity Framework, Ajax control tool, etc. Moreover, it establishes the corresponding test cases to ensure the completeness and correctness of the system. The mature system will contain the management of materials, inventories, purchasing, qualities, contracts, plans, projects and clients, etc. From plan to execution, and then feedback to the plan, all business data will be packed into the management module and implement an integrated decision making process. After 2 rounds and 139 cases of the tests, the ERP system has proved that it could be used in the enterprise and running stably and it now has been put into use.
