Data monitoring is widely used in many important areas such as industry, agriculture, national defense and so on. With the rapid development of embedded technology and communication network, the data monitoring system is also in the renewal. Data monitoring system consists of many modules such as data acquisition, data transmission, data display and so on. Data monitoring terminal is a key module to realize these functions.In recent years, System in which the main controller was based on ARM chip which was low power consumption, high performance has become the main stream status in the field of embedded terminal. Modbus communication protocol is one of request / response protocols in which service types are specified by function codes. After 30 years of development, Modbus communication protocol has become a general standard in industrial field. The GPRS network has also become a mature communication technology. Therefore, the data monitoring terminal in this thesis uses ARM controller and Modbus for field data monitoring and GPRS for remote data communication has broad application prospects.This thesis takes the motor operation monitoring as the application scenario and designs the data monitoring terminal. It mainly completes the following work:(1) Embedded data monitoring terminal scheme consists of Modbus for field data monitoring based on ARM controller architecture and GPRS remote data communication are proposed.The scheme realizes the field data monitoring and remote data communication which make it more convenient for field and backstage staff to monitor the motor equipment situation in real time.(2) Introduce of the hardware composition of data monitoring terminal. The terminal mainly consists of main control board and data acquisition board. Both use the STM32F103ZET6 microcontroller base on Cortex-M3 processor core. In addition, to transplant μC/OS-Ⅱ operating system to the terminal main control board are completed.(3) Modbus communication scheme for field data monitoring are developed and analyzed based on the actual needs of the motor operation. Design of the terminal software and configuration software of control panel in detail are completed. Communication functions between main control board and industrial configuration control panel are finished.(4) Advantages of GPRS technology in remote data communication are analyzed and a remote data communication scheme based on the GPRS network is developed. Terminal software is designed to make remote data communication between terminal and the data monitoring center.Finally, a data acquisition terminal has been made. The terminal, back-end servers and other modules formed a complete data monitoring systems. A comprehensive functional verification of design of the embedded data monitoring terminal was conducted. The results show that the designed data monitoring terminal meets the demand of terminal functions and achieves the terminal architecture requirements.
