With the development of automation and progress of controltechnology, filed communication is not only the controller and devices.Communication between human and machine is widely used. The mainroute of the information transportation of field bus is not only limited inthe short distance. Higher demand is requested for field bus monitoring.Restricted field bus can’t meet the need of current automatic control. Inorder to control the cost of maintaince, increase the effiency, lots ofmonitorings are needed.Currently, in the automation filed, many types of equipment areestablished in the desolate and uninhabited area. But client site needs tomonitor the status of the system remotely (larger than10km). Or theequipments are assembled in some dangerous area, such as nuclear powerstation, high temperature, high pressure, flammable, explosive, toxic andradiological. So a remote connection is needed to control the system inthe safe area. So a new requirement is created for this remote control. No matter Modbus, Profi-bus or Hostlink, all are designed ondifferential circuit. So the longest distance for communication is only500meters. And the wiring layout, safety should also be considered. Thecommunication distance on current field bus is far under the requirementfor remote monitoring. This thesis is focused on the researching onModbus and Modbus-TCP. To collect all the information locally, thentransfer the protocol to Modbus-TCP. Send them to the remote client byEthernet, Wireless and so on. Even all over the world through the Internet. This thesis aims to provide a solution for remote monitoring.
