Nowadays, we have entered the information age, and information management technology has been widely accepted and applied. As one of the three fundamental pillars of school, library bears the preservation of knowledge, providing information for teaching and research. With the expansion of the knowledge, traditional book organization and retrieval method of library now severely restricts the efficiency of information access. In order to improve the efficiency of information retrieval and utilization of library, it’s urgent to research and develop morden library management information system.At present, most of the library management information systems still take the book management as their core business and the system function design is limited in the library routine business process. In the knowledge expansion times, so many books and documents swarm into library everyday. Facing massive alternative materials, readers often don’t know which one meets their desire. Obviously, the traditional book trieval methods can’t provide personalized information services to readers based on their interest preferences. It belongs to the passive service mode. In this background, this thesis focuses on the research of the design and implement of the knowledge service-oriented library management information system. Based on the traditional library management information system, we provide a full range of information support for the book management. Meanwhile, we the system can push interested information to user and optimize the query result based on user preference, which transforms the library service model from information management to knowledge mining and service. Through active and personalized information service mode, we can improve the readers’ borrowing experience and library utilization efficiency.Firstly, based on library management theory, we give the definition of system scope and content thought the analysis of domestic and foreign excellent library systems and practical research. In the stages of requirement analysis and system design, we adopt UML to model every requirement of library management, system structure and all the system functions to lay the foundation for system implement. Secondly, the system adopts B/S three layer architecture, which makes the system more suitable for distributed office environment, and improves the convenience of the reader’s query. Besides, we adopt MVC development framework, which increases the robustness of the software, and makes it more convenient to maintain and extend the software. Thirdly, on the basis of traditional library management information system, we propose the knowledge service function including information recommend and query optimization for each reader in order to improve the utilization of the library. Through the analysis the reader’s borrowing records, we bulid the score matrix. Then, based on collaborative filtering method, we get the potential interested books for readers and push interested information termly. Finally, we adopt J2 EE as our development platform, and at the end of this thesis, we test the system and analyze the test result.
