Objects: Based study on the ecosystem ecology theory, we attempt to establish the knowledge ecosystem theory and model, and enrich the ecology of knowledge theory. We apply the theory to BPR of library and information service, and try to find more advanced theories for BPR of library and information service. Methods: literature research method, transplantation research method, model establishment method, comparison of the research method, case study method. Results: Based on the analysis of the ecosystem ecology theory, we establish the ecosystem concept model and theoretical system and discuss on the basic composition, function and management of the knowledge ecosystem theory. Through applied the theory to the business process reengineering of library and information service, we put forward objectives and principles of BPR of library and information service, and analyze the study content based the knowledge ecosystem theory of BPR of library and information service. And we make the BPR solution of college library based the knowledge ecosystem theory. We give some ideas and suggestions for follow-up study of the knowledge ecology and BPR of library and information serviceConclusion: 1. Theory on knowledge ecosystem is the new theoretical basis for library and information service, and it improve the quality of knowledge services of library and information service organizations to a higher level. 2. Knowledge ecosystem theory is constitute by Concepts and features study, functions study, relationships study, the level of research, evolution and management study and model study. 3. The BPR of library and information service based on knowledge ecosystem theory not only concerned about explicit knowledge services, and pay more attention to the implicit knowledge to create, access, integration and sharing.
