Modern technology is advancing rapidly, and radar research cycle is getting longer and longer. To verify radar performance, there is a large number of need for field tests while the radar environment has been more complex. In the actual experiment environment, there are many factors restricting radar test, such as large discrete parameters, and sometimes in order to get a more accurate measurement of the parameters, the experiment needed to be repeated many times, etc. Thus, the cost of manpower and resources is enormous, not only increased research funding, but also delayed the progress of scientific research. Relatively speaking, the use of radar signal simulation approach to design, test the radar, there are a lot of advantages.Radar Signal Simulation technologies mainly include characteristics study of objectives, real-time simulation, and the electromagnetic environment and interference characteristics study, etc. This thesis mainly studies the real-time simulation of the echo. Real-time simulation of multiple targets costs hardware resources relatively high. This thesis proposes radar echo system solutions containing four objectives, detailing the implementation based on FPGA platform. At first, the thesis introduces radar echo signal model of point target according to the basic radar principle, and analyzes the characteristics of the chirp signal, then gives a detailed description of the Rcs model, and the method of generating random numbers. Then thesis analyzes the phased array antenna pattern function model with four sub-array elements, and describes how to implement beam modulation. Thesis also gives the motion model of arbitrary trajectory target. The thesis then introduces the realization of the Four Targets Echo Simulation System. Limited to the complexity of antenna pattern functions and the distribution function of the Rcs model, antenna pattern data and Rcs data are stored and then read. Cosine wave of any frequency is achieved with a Cordic algorithm, simply by shifting and addition. In order to reduce cost of resources, filter is designed using a highly efficient multi-phase structure. The article also details how to achieve control of each module, how to simulate Doppler modulation, and distance. All theories have been simulated with MATLAB before hardware implementing. Finally, test methods are given for the Four Targets Echo Simulation System. The test results demonstrate the realization of the echo simulation containing four targets acceptable, different from the traditional thesis which only introduces echo simulation of one target.
