Radar signal simulator is a kind of detection equipment.It is used to produce simulate radar echo signal which contains radar targets and environment information,that can replace true radar echo signal in some situation.It is an important equipment in inspecting radar performance and training equipment operators in daily.With the new technology rapid development,such as computer technology,bus technology,and integrated circuit technology,etc.Radar signal simulator has also been increasingly used in modern radars.Modern radar technology is constantly undergoing changes,and radar signal simulators are adapting to this.Engineering-research on radar signal simulator has become a new direction in these years.With the increasing complexity and variety of functions of modern radars,it is becoming more and more difficult to debug and test external systems of radar systems.Performing the debugging of the complex radar system in the actual environment will bring enormous manpower and material resources to the manufacturer and the user.Radar echo simulation technology provides the necessary conditions for radar system debugging,performance and evaluation function and the maintenance of equipment.The necessity of developing a special radar signal simulator becomes higher and higher.The radar signal simulator can test the radar system without actual flight.So it has high flexibility and can reduce the test cost notably.The use of radar signal simulator as equipment maintenance testing and operation training is an inevitable trend for the development of radar equipment in the future.This article is based on the researching of a certain type of tracking radar system and a model of radar echo signal simulator,design and implementation of the radar simulator system is mainly studying.Firstly,this thesis introduces the state of the art for radar signal simulators in and abroad in recent years and the reason for their widely spread application.Secondly,the methods for implementing radar echo signal simulator has been studied.Through analysis and comparison of two signal simulation methods,this thesis proposes a radar echo simulator best suitable for practical implementation.The structure and main function of signal simulator be introduced with the design example of pulse radar signal simulator,especially on electric delay line and horn antenna,the method of realization and key technology of optical fiber delaying system is analyzed too on the article.Moreover,the key problem,high precision echo signal delay has being resolved,a design of an optimum pyramid horn antenna which has been simulated with HFSS.Finally,a detailed simulator off-site testing program is given,and the deficiencies in the radar echo simulation simulator system designed in the article are pointed out.A summary is made on the article,it points out the research direction in the future.Radar echo signal simulator designed in this article has simulated delay of high precision,simple operation,easy expanded,convenient interface,economically,etc.The hardware and software producing and debugging of the equipment have been completed,and the system has been jointly adjusted with the supporting radar.It has been successfully applied to the actual detection of a certain type of radar field.The functional performance indicators have reached the requirements for engineering development,the field test verification is also passed successfully.
