Along with the continuous promotion of National Golden Card Project, especially with the reliable security mechanism and superior flexibility, CPU smart card has been paid more and more attention in the field of IC cards, has penetrated into all sectors of the national economy. RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology is extremely revolutionary, which was appeared in the 20 th century and is very famous in the field of “Internet of things”. Together the CPU smart card and RFID technology will produce innovative contactless applications, which will promote the transformation of payment methods, greatly facilitate the lives of consumers. CPU contactless smart card can play efficient and secure applications and also can realize the multi-purpose of cards, in the financial, railway, medical and many other industries.The arrival of smart cards’ new times of CPU "core" inside, will certainly promote the development of read/write terminals correlatively, which will bring huge business opportunities for enterprises. Diverse application scenarios, secure and reliable user needs are put forward higher request to the read/write terminals. Based on this, this thesis will design an intelligent read/write terminal device, which is controlled by high-powered ARM microprocessor, and in order to accurately read the CPU contactless smart card as the goal, and has a rich interactive experience. It should be noted that this thesis will examine only for the Type A contactless smart cards.Firstly, plan out the entire block diagram of the system according to the needs of the project, then after the device selection, complete the design of each hardware module circuit according to the corresponding device data sheet. Secondly, based on the hardware, complete the software design of RF module from the physical layer and protocol layer according to the ISO/IEC14443 standard and the related standards in the financial sector. In addition to the serial communication, this thesis also realizes the USB communication between the reader and PC machine. Moreover, the reader also supports the LCD display and keyboard input. Finally, hardware and software’s test are conducted, and analyze the relevant test results.
