Despite the growing popularity and the application of electronic records, paper archives are still playing the important role in the archive storehouse.these papers are facing a variety of aging or damaged threats. With this background that archives paper keeps aging and by the time restore techniques are still need to improve, a new explore on new repair materials is necessary. Bacterial cellulose is a pure cellulose and it was produced by carbohydrate which fermented by the microbe, Bacterial cellulose shows people it’s advantages such as low cost, good performance, no pollution etc.. What’s more, the molecular composition of bacterial cellulose and the plant fiber paper are just the same, this makes it has a chance to be a species ideal archives paper restore material. In order to figure out that whether the bacterial cellulose is applicable to restore archives paper as well as how much will it effect, this study designed a series of experiments in a physical dissociated way and considered the possible factors as concentration, the number of rotations, the coating amount, pH value and the temperature, try to discuss and analysis the effect of the bacterial cellulose shows on paper restore.Experimental results shows that bacterial cellulose can be used as a repair material archives. After the restoration, archives paper’s mechanical character improved on varying degrees except the lower white degree slightly. In addition to a comprehensive experiment and aging-comparative experiment, the research draws a conclusion that bacterial cellulose has the possibility of being a archives restore material. However,Using bacterial cellulose as archives paper restore material has some limitations. The softness of paper declined and it is not suitable to restore those papers that recorded double-sided or water diffusion. Due to the time constraints and the limited objective conditions as well as the limited number of samples, the way how bacterial cellulose used to restore papers and the measurement on restored archive paper still has a lot of shortages that need to be improved. Further explorations and tests are still needed. So the main value of this study is to offer an idea and orientation for the future research. In conclusion, being physical dissociated, the bacterial cellulose can improve the archive papers capability overall. There is a big chance that bacterial cellulose might become an ideal archives restore material, yet the processing and application methods still need more further research and exploration.
