Now, with the social progress and economic development, wireless communication technologies are advancing extremely quickly, and using in each part of our life. Demand is also growing in the wireless communication device, the new communication technology and business is emergence in an endless stream, and this creates the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment. And the conflict between the demand for the development of the radio communication technology and the level of the existing radio monitoring more and more acutely. Therefore, a new radio monitoring network to adapt to the development of radio communication technologies are urgently needed. Located in the southwest border of Yunnan, it is the first line of defense in the southwest China, and is also the important provinces in South Asia Economic Cooperation. Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province and to ensure stable and secure operation of Kunming radio monitoring is urgently needed.The grid radio monitoring network is combined with the terrain construction based on the original radio monitoring network, so that the whole band coverage without dead ends, can truly the scientific, fine, intelligent radio monitoring and management in Kunming.In order to design the grid radio monitoring network in key areas of Kunming City, through the investigation and study in this paper, based on the existing radio monitoring status in Kunming, and analysis of the existing radio monitoring network scale and coverage in Kunming; Introduces the principle and characteristics of traditional radio monitoring network and grid radio monitoring network in this paper. Through the simulation of wireless signal coverage, select the Cuihu Lake surrounding where electromagnetic environment is more complex as a pilot area of grid planning, and relying on the region’s geographical location, topography, regional importance, population density and other factors design Kunming, the provincial government and the scope of the surrounding Green Lake neighborhood where the university has made monitoring points within a grid layout planning.
