The current national condition, that there are a mountain of people and the growth rate of population is high, determines the urgent problem the government is facing is to plant sufficient grain which could meet people’s fundamental demand. Thanks to the development of science, automation and mechanization sweep grain plantation following the improvement of production and grain variety, which paces the step for grain storage. On account of that grain storage has obvious influence on the quality of grain, the stability of grain markets and people’s benefit, the grain monitoring comes to our eyes. While in monitoring, technicians are required to obverse the range of temperature, and have to provide the latest datum to remind operators in case of any emergency.Currently, grain situation monitoring system is being transferred from wired communication technology to wireless one at a slow pace. Compared with wired communication technology, wireless technology is more flexible, safer and cheaper. The following items are the main points discussed in the paper:(1) Analyzing the research of monitoring grain situation and some corresponding products at home and abroad. To solve the problem that lies in Henan province’s grain condition monitoring, the paper adopts Zigbee to set up a wireless monitoring system that is used to monitoring grain. Discuss about features and advantages of Zigbee.(2) Making up a scheme deriving from Zigbee wireless sensor granary monitoring system. Select suitable types to each part, involving the selection of temperature sensors, terminal nodes and routing nodes and so on. Make sure the overall communication mode of the system, networking and work process.(3) Designing the terminal nodes of temperature sensor, real-time temperature and humidity detection circuit, control circuit terminal nodes and Zigbee wireless communication circuits. On the base, develop terminal node software to achieve the aim monitoring the grain temperature and humidity accurately.(4) Designing the routing nodes in the network lying on Zigbee protocol, control circuit of the routing nodes and ZigBee wireless communication circuit; and based on it, corresponding software is developed to make real-time forwarding about Zigbee packet come true which will contribute to building a barn monitoring system of cluster type network.(5) Projecting the hardware and software of coordination nodes that will help for the remote transmission of Zigbee datum. Simultaneously, develop the PC-side management system to achieve datum exchanges between Zigbee packet and PCs.(6) Piloting the wireless grain situation monitoring network, especially the power analysis and transmission distance testing of the terminal nodes and temperature acquisition.
