Radar signal environment simulator simulate the real radar environment of battlefield, generate radar pulse signals with different characteristics and provide the real test environment for electronic warfare equipment. Because Radar signal environment simulator combine software and hardware, It has the flexibility, versatility, compatibility etc. According to the design requirements and technical indicators of radar signal environment simulator, This paper makes a detailed design on multi channel independent scheme that be based on DSP and FPGA. The main research work are outlined as follows:1. Basic types of radar signal have been analyzed, that includes amplitude modulated pulse signal, linear frequency modulation signal and phase coded signal, then modeled the radar signal environment, including RF model, PRI model and antenna scanning model. Finally, the principle and the characteristics of each signal and model be analyzed in detail.2. The overall scheme of radar signal environment simulator have been designed. The overall scheme include display controller,three pieces of signal generating board and a piece of communication control board. Firstly, simulator can set the radar parameters of each channel by the display controller. Secondly, the parameters are sent to the communication control board. signal generating board generate twelve channel signals independent of each other in the control of communication control board. Finally, the technical system of signal generating board have been designed confirmed which use single chip DSP and FPGA to generate four channel signal independent of each other.3. The hardware of signal generating board have been designed in detail. Hardware is designed on the basis of chip DSP and FPGA, completed the selection of DSP and its peripheral circuit design, selection of FPGA and its peripheral circuit design, DAC module design, antenna scanning modulation design, system clock design and power module design divided into analog and digital parts.4. The software of signal generating board have been designed in detail. In software design, DSP complete the data communications with communication control board, to obtain the parameters of radar pulse, including center frequency, pulse width, pulse repetition period, the FM mode, phase coding, sub code width, antenna scanning type, scanning period and so on, then compute the received parameters,judge signal model and send the parameters needed for the next pulse through the external data bus, when the external interrupt generated by FPGA arrival. FPGA generates specific radar signal using waveform synthesizer. The digital signal is transmitted to the DAC to generate analog signal. Firstly, the paper design the DSP software flow, then focus on the analysis of the radar parameters protocol, the calculation model of the signal mode contro, phase calculation model and amplitude conversion module in FPGA. amplitude modulated pulse signal, linear frequency modulation signal and phase coded signal etc are genetate by simulator.5. The output signal have been analyzed by simulation At the end of paper. The correctness of radar signal environment simulator of hardware and software design have been verified. Analysis of time domain and frequency domain on the simulator output signal show that the simulator can meet the design requirements.
