Radar echo simulator is the special tool which is used to test the performance of radar about location and measuring speed. It can meet the requirement of radar system developing and test. It can not only save deviser much developing expense, but also shorten developing period and improve work efficiency.A radar echo simulator for the radar digital signal processor is designed.The simulator can generate various echo received by radar which contains targets signal, various clutter and active interference signals, it can also collect and check up information from the digital signal processor.The main works in this thesis include:1. Radar echo models are given, which contain clutter signal model, oppressive interference signal model, spurious interference signal model. The baseband data with these echo models are generated.2. The hardware circuit of radar echo simulator is designed, including FPGA and DSP circuit, digital quadrature upconverter circuit, baseband data access circuit. The circuit diagram and printed circuited board are accomplished.3. Software design and debugging of the radar echo simulator are finished. The functions of radar echo simulator mainly include baseband data access and digital quadrature upconverter. The routeway from baseband data to intermediate frequency analog signal is tested.4. The target echo, clutter signal and noise signal simulated by radar echo simulator are tested and verified. Measurement results show the correction of the designed hardware and software of the radar echo simulator.
