With the coming of the era of Mobile Internet, traditional media is facing more challenges in transformation, the competition spread from PC to mobile clients. With the popularity of smart phones, App became the new territory that media are competing for, more and more traditional media and new media launched a self-study App, but disappeared in the vast ocean App countless at last. Do traditional media really need an App? How do traditional media to make App? This paper attempts to analyze some successful App cases of traditional media in china, hoping to summarize relevant successful experience. Meanwhile, this paper also focus on the development of traditional media App in foreign countries,through some analysis of the case, I hope the foreign media’s success or failure in App can give some experience to domestic traditional media for reference. Compared with the online media App, perhaps traditional media can learn something form the one which is familiar to the Internet.Lastly, I hope to discuss the profit model and the future direction of the development of traditional media’s App, so that the way of traditional media App may be more clearer in future.
