In face of the advent of electronic information era, the channels to know about information and reading methods for people are also undergoing profound revolution. Multimedia, renewable and interactive new media is challenging the status of traditional print media represented by books, newspapers and magazines. With the wide spread of mobile terminals, such as smartphones and pad, mobile internet has entered an explosive period, and e-reading also enters maturity, which has put traditional print media in a perilous status. However, opportunity coexists with challenge. Facing the challenging waves of electronics and multimedia, traditional print media also needs corresponding revolution to adapt to the times. In response to the social problem stated above. This thesis proposed an approach to deal with the electronic impact using mobile internet technology, which expands the showcase and space of traditional print media by utilizing mobile terminal as auxiliary reading methods. This thesis adopts relatively mature two-dimensional bar code and one-dimensional ISBN recognition technology as the communication channel between paper media and new media, with the traditional books and magazines as entry, with phones to acquire extended reading space, to endow new energy to the extended showcase of traditional print media. It largely enriches reader’s reading experience as well as expanding business approach of traditional booksellers.This thesis simulates and builds the complete front-end and back-end environment to adapt to extended reading, utilizing Android system as terminal development environment, and propose the solution to the traditional media revolution. This thesis has mainly accomplished the following jobs:1. Investigate reading requirements, analyze the impact of new media to traditional media and propose solution and possible system service.2. Design the extended reading system with the bridge of two-dimensional bar code and one-dimensional ISBN, to fulfill the function definition, planning and programming of the complete terminal system and backend.3. Build the extended reading system, including application reading software in Android platform and web service backend in the PHP+MYSQL+Apache environment.
