With the rapid development of China’s construction industry, the amount of technological innovation knowledge increases year by year. In order to improving the ability of construction technology innovation, it has become an urgent issue that how to effectively assist technical workers with technical innovation by strengthening technological innovation knowledge management. Currently, innovation theories such as TRIZ has been widely applied and innovation systems have been built in various industries to support professionals with the integrated knowledge of different disciplines. Therefore, it is of significance to build a technology innovation system based on innovative theory to motivate knowledge workers’ innovative thinking thereby reducing costs as well as improving quality. However, it has been found by reviewing literature that limited attention has been paid to the application of TRIZ,available patents and technical knowledge to improve the technological innovation ability in the construction industry. Hence, based on TRIZ theory, this study attempts to explore the construction industry technology innovation platform and to build a heuristic environment so as to guide the practice and improve the efficiency of the construction innovation.Based on the related research in literature and contextualized in technology innovation in the construction industry, this study highlights the importance of the TRIZ-based construction technology innovation system and puts forward the following steps to develop the platform. Firstly, this study collects construction patents from the patent information web and analyzes the patent knowledge according to TRIZ which serves as the data input of the platform. Then, the development tools are selected, and the structure of the database, function modules & the overall framework are designed. Finally, input the patent data into the database, develop each functional module of the platform and debug each function modules i.e. user information management module, TRIZ introduction module, conflict resolutionmodule and patent cases query module. The results demonstrate that TRIZ theory can provide references to solve the problems of construction of technology innovation and the developed TRIZ-based technology innovation platform plays an important role in improving the quality and efficiency of technology innovation. The research results not only contribute to the application of TRIZ theory in the construction technology innovation but also lay a solid foundation for further improving construction technology innovation platform development and for TRIZ-based innovation platform research in future.
