Fiber optic sensing technology, especially distributed fiber sensing technology [1], obtained rapid development in recent years mostly depends on the excellent properties of fiber. Data acquisition and processing as an important part of fiber optic sensing system has a directly influence on the accuracy and speed of the system.This article concentrated on how to develop a data acquisition system with high-speed, high-accuracy, low cost and real-time.At first, we chose the USB bus as the PC interface bus after analysis and comparison several common data acquisition system buses. USB is the abbreviation for universal serial bus, which is plug and play, high-speed, diverse power supply, low cost ……and then, we discussed several solutions about data acquisition system based on USB bus, and finally chose USB interface integrated microcontroller. This solution can take full use of hardware source, reduce the time of development. We can fulfill a data acquisition system with high precision, high speed, low cost and real time control with the cooperation of CPLD.After confirm the scheme of data acquisition system, the next job is to choose the appropriate hardware and develop the software. In the part of hardware, some important chips will be introduced such as ADC, USB chip and CPLD. In the part of software, we talked about the development of USB firmware, CPLD timing circuit control and LabVIEW program. Finally, some tests carried out to demonstrate the feasibility of the scheme.
