Management Program For The New Fudan University Museum

The collection management has important effect on long-term development of the museum, as the collection is one of the basic conditions for the existence, the crucial material objects for education, exhibition, research, and so on. There are some problems with collection management in Fudan University Museum, such as crowded storeroom, unreasonable shelving, lack of necessary rules and regulations, irregular operation, backward equipment, etc. Although they are obvious, lack of funds and site makes it is impossible to improve all along. While, now there is a good opportunity as the new Fudan University Museum will be established and the 7th edition "Informationalized Management System of collection", which is leaded by professor Chen Hongjing, has been developed successfully recently. As a consequence of this, it is necessary to offer a set of reasonable,suitable, scientific and advanced management program to the museum.As one university museum, Fudan University Museum possesses both commonness of general museums and individuality of itself. So I will try my best to provide a systematic project for the new museum. It will base on the character and mission of Fudan University Museum, under the guidance of the advanced theory of collection management, use the experience of some full-fledged museums, such as Nanjing Museum, Shanghai Lu Xun Museum, for reference, meanwhile integrate my own perception from practice. I hope that the project can impel other activities as well as raise the standard of collection management.
